Students seeking reasonable accommodations or support services from The Center for Accessible Education are required to register with the office as early as possible so that you can work closely with your Disability Specialist and tap into the knowledge and support available to navigate your UCLA experience.

How to Connect with CAE

In an effort to respond to the nuanced and unique needs of professional students, CAE has identified specific point individuals for certain professional programs. Scholarship Opportunities

The CAE is seeking to provide a $1,000.00 Will Rogers Scholarship award to enrolled students with disabilities that demonstrate strong leadership, dedication or involvement in organizations, activities, academic research, or issues that promote awareness and acceptance for the disability community. We want to help support your research, projects, and vital work towards amplifying the experiences of the community. If you are interested in the scholarship, please submit your application for consideration. The CAE will select 5 students.  

Campus Advocacy and Involvement 

The Disabled Student Union (DSU)

DSU provides a safe and inclusive place for people with disabilities to feel accepted. Its purpose is to empower students through advocacy and education, build relationships with the administration and the wider campus community, to remove barriers of access on campus, and to advocate for the rights of people with disabilities to live in peace. UCLA’s DSU will work to lead programs for people with disabilities as well as create a community of acceptance and solidarity at UCLA. General FAQs

Is there a specific CAE Disability Specialist for Anderson School of Management students?

I met with my CAE Disability Specialist and they emailed my approved accommodations to the UCLA Anderson School of Management representative. Now what will happen? Do I have to do anything else?

Yes, you will need to request your letters of accommodations, which will let your faculty know what accommodations you have been approved for. For more information about how to do this, please visit the YouTube video here.

**For FEMBA Students ONLY**

During the Core Phase of the curriculum, the FEMBA Student Affairs Office will notify your instructors of your approved accommodations and your Program Manager will arrange your accommodations. During the elective phase, students must work closely with their Instructor & TA regarding arranging their approved accommodations.

If you have any questions about your accommodations and exam logistics, please email your FEMBA Class Manager:

The Student Affairs Office will contact your faculty, but you will not be included on an email to faculty as there may be multiple students assigned to the same section.

Is there a deadline to request my accommodations?

It is in your best interest to request accommodations with CAE at the beginning of the quarter to ensure that there is enough time for CAE to process your request and for the UCLA Anderson School to implement your approved accommodations.

I want my accommodations to be kept private. Are accommodations kept confidential?

Accommodations are not kept confidential in regards to your professors. You will need to request your letters of accommodations, which will let your faculty know which accommodations you are approved for. The Student Affairs Office and faculty in your department need to know what you have been approved for in order to implement your accommodations. However, they will not be informed of the nature of your disability or provided any other details.

**For FEMBA Students ONLY**

The FEMBA Student Affairs Office will notify your instructors as needed to ensure proper accommodations are in place. When exam accommodations are provided, there is no notation on the academic record.

Do I have to request accommodations every quarter or will they continue until I graduate?

You will need to request your letters of accommodations to your professors each quarter.

If your accommodations are temporary, they will not be implemented past the expiration date that was noted on your CAE information form. If you are seeking accommodations after they have expired, please email your CAE Disability Specialist to follow up on next steps.

I have a question about my accommodations. Who should I contact?

Classroom Accommodations FAQs

I was approved for Peer Notetaking as an accommodation. How do I request notes for my classes?

If you were approved for Peer Notetaking, please contact your class manager and they will assist with finding a note-taker. Once assigned a note-taker, they will be directed to place your course notes in your assigned mail folder located in Anderson Business Lounge in A-305 on a weekly basis.

I was approved for a notetaking support accommodation that allows me to record lectures (audio record lectures, Glean, Otter Voice Notes, Livescribe Smartpen, Notetaking Express). Do I need to let my professor know that I will be recording in their course?

No, your notetaking support accommodation will be visible on the accommodation letter you request for each class, therefore your professor will be made aware of it when you request the letter.

Exam Accommodations FAQs

I have exam accommodations. How do I set up my exams in order to use my accommodations?

You will need to speak with your program representative to set up your accommodations on upcoming exams. We recommend that you do this as soon as possible to ensure there is enough time and space to accommodate your needs.
